Well, it's been a very long while since my last post...sorry about that, been busy. Busy with what, you ask? Lemme see if I can recap...
...WE HAVE A NEW BABY! That's right, in addition to our nearly 2 year-old son Sam, we now have a beautiful daughter named Adelaide Victoria. She really is great! She was born June 26, 2007, weighed 6 lbs 14 oz and was 18 inches long. Sleep has been hard to come by, but getting better every day.
...Job has got me by the short and curlies. I don't like it, I want a change, but with the other recent events in my life (see above), it hasn't been the best time to change jobs.
...I have a torn rotator cuff. I guess that means no pitching for the Tigers this year....another year wasted. Thankfully, no surgery needed...just rest and no softball. Oh well...again, with recent developments (again, see above), softball on hold is actually a good thing.
...I've been listening to a lot of Townes Van Zandt lately. If you've never heard of him, please check him out....Amazon has a few of his CDs....defo worth it! Aside from Townes, there's the new Wilco, White Stripes and Ryan Adams....all good and all worth a listen.
...'Bruce Springsteen and the Sessions Band - Live in Dublin' - this is an amazing show, sound is great, camera work is brilliant, music is awesome! Well done, Boss!
Anyway, that's about it...even though I KNOW I'm missing something and I KNOW people are thinking, "That's ALL you have to say about your new baby?!?!?!" Well, in this short, 5-minute post...yes. More to follow, I promise. I also promise to post a little more often.

...I lament about football.
I used to be a football fan, a big football fan...
I played football, both on organized teams and in my backyard. To draft my Christmas wish lists each year I started by opening the Sears catalog and turned to the NFL clothing page...jerseys, varsity jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies. As a family, we used to watch Inside the NFL religiously. Hell, I used to sleep with my football. But something happened...not sure what it was, what it is. I can't put my finger on it.
I'm sitting here watching the National Championship game and I'm finding myself with the remote in one hand flipping around between plays...checking to see what's on HBO, what stupid sitcoms are on. What's the matter with me?
Maybe the problem is that I'm a Spartan fan. It really hasn't been good for a while in East Lansing. Maybe it's living in the D where the only pro team in town is barely a pro team at all. Hell, my arch-rival Michigan...who I decided to root for for two games this year...even laid an egg.
Did I spend too much of my sports energy on the Tigers this year? Is there really a limited amount to go around? Am I just getting older? More mature? Is this a product of being a father? Who knows?
Anyway, I thought I'd probably stay up tonight to watch this entire game, but now I'm thinking of going to bed.
